Voyage Express Ferry Grounded Near Ghogha: Incident Details and Response

On November 23, 2023, at approximately 5:30 a.m., the 'Voyage Express' ferry encountered difficulties while traveling from the Ghogha Terminal in Bhavnagar district to Hazira. With over 400 passengers and around 70 vehicles on board, the vessel ran aground due to insufficient sea drafts caused by inadequate dredging in the channel. After more than five hours of being stuck, the ferry was successfully refloated with the help of two tugboats and returned to Ghogha for further investigation into the incident. By 11:45 a.m., the 'Voyage Express' was cleared to resume its journey to Hazira. While several passengers opted to disembark and plan for the next day's departure due to the delay, many others decided to remain on board.
