The Nada: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On July 29, 2019, at approximately 11 a.m., the bulk carrier 'Ermoupolis,' carrying a crew of 21, encountered a significant mishap while maneuvering to dock at the LARCO factory in Larymna port, located in Phthiotis, Greece. During the berthing process, the vessel collided with the quay, resulting in a considerable breach—a 10-meter gash—on the forecastle of its port side, which was above the waterline. At the time of the incident, the 'Ermoupolis' had just transited from Guatemala. The collision also caused damages to a crane positioned on the quay and affected the quay structure itself. Preliminary investigations revealed that the captain had not awaited the assistance of two tugs and a pilot before attempting to dock. Following the incident, the relevant Greek classification societies were promptly notified. After the necessary repairs, the 'Ermoupolis' arrived at the port of Tuapse on August 12 at 10 p.m., where it moored at coordinates 44° 3.57' N and 039° 5.01' E. Subsequently, after completing repairs, the vessel departed Tuapse on August 17 at 11:10 a.m. and set sail for Iskenderun with an estimated arrival date of August 22.
