Thorough Police Investigation Clears 'Hoop' of Drug Allegations
In a recent development, police conducted a meticulous investigation of the cargo aboard the vessel 'Hoop', revealing no illicit substances. On August 13, the ship was redirected to Flushing for a comprehensive inspection. During this inquiry, authorities opened the containers to examine their contents after an initial check using X-ray technology had indicated potential issues. However, both evaluations returned negative results regarding the presence of drugs. Consequently, the crew members were exonerated and are no longer considered suspects in this matter. The containers in question were associated with a company previously implicated in a significant drug operation, Operation Portunus, after a raid in early July, where illicit crystal meth production was uncovered. While police have confirmed that they are continuing their investigations, the containers have been cleared and were reloaded onto the 'Hoop', which is currently on a course from Las Palmas to Hansweert.
Thorough Drug Search Conducted on Vessel 'Hoop' at Flushing Port
Authorities in Flushing are on high alert following a comprehensive drug inspection of the vessel 'Hoop.' The operation unfolded on August 13, 2020, when the North Sea police directed the ship to dock at Flushing's inner port for a thorough examination. In a meticulously coordinated effort, containers were hoisted off the deck using a crane and subjected to scrutiny by a customs X-ray vehicle stationed at Visserijkade. The 'Hoop,' which had made its way from Las Palmas, was scheduled to continue its journey to Hansweert. To facilitate the inspection, the surrounding area was cordoned off, with the National Police Unit lending support to the operation. After an exhaustive check, the 'Hoop' was cleared and departed the port on August 14 at 6:50 a.m., arriving at its destination in Hansweert by 9:00 a.m. For a detailed report and additional images from the scene, visit the Dutch news outlet here: https://www.omroepzeeland.nl/nieuws/121776/Schip-in-Vlissingse-haven-gecontroleerd-op-drugs-gewapende-politie-paraat.
