Polish Shipyard Lists Delayed Ice-Class Vessels for Sale
In an unexpected turn of events, the Isle of Man-based brokerage firm Seaboats is now listing two ice-class multipurpose vessels that were originally contracted in 2013 by Royal Arctic Line (RAL) from the Polish manufacturer Remontowa. The ships, named 'Agnethe Arctica' and 'Jonathan Arctica,' were refused by RAL due to significant delivery delays, prompting the shipyard to place them on the market. Each vessel is priced at 12 million Euros. The 'Agnethe Arctica' is ready for immediate delivery within one month of sale, while the 'Jonathan Arctica' will require an additional three months to complete. Attempts by British brokerage CW Kellock to sell the vessels over the past six months have unfortunately yielded no interest. The cancellation process sparked a lengthy legal and financial conflict between the Royal Arctic Line and Remontowa, which has since been amicably resolved, though details of the settlement remain undisclosed. These 74-meter container ships are designed to meet the stringent DNV ice class PC5 standards, highlighting their capabilities for operations in challenging conditions.
