Apr 30, 2018 09:28

On April 28, 2018, a significant maritime incident unfolded at Astrakhan port when the Iranian cargo vessel m/v 'Pars Khazar 2' lost control and began drifting along the Volga River. This unfortunate event saw the cargo ship collide with two vessels that were securely moored in the port. The first impact occurred when 'Pars Khazar 2' struck the anchored Russian freighter 'Baltiyskiy 40', causing it to break free from its anchorage. Following this, the drifting ship then collided with another cargo ship, 'Nardis'. As a result of these collisions, 'Pars Khazar 2' suffered damage to its ballast tank No. 6, with a noticeable breach measuring approximately 1 by 1.5 meters.

Vessel Fire Incident on Volga-Caspian Sea Channel

Jan 27, 2016 10:05

In a dramatic incident on January 27, 2016, a fire erupted on the cargo vessel 'Nardis' at 6:38 a.m. local time while navigating the Volga-Caspian Sea Channel, specifically at the 128 km mark. The ship was making its way from Astrakhan to Enzeli when the emergency occurred. Promptly, the icebreaker 'Kapitan Checkin' responded to aid in the situation, offering support and preparing to evacuate the crew of 11 if required. The crew of the 'Nardis,' along with the water cannon capabilities of the icebreaker, managed to bring the blaze under control. In addition, the Russian Emergencies Ministry had positioned the rescue ship 'Uglich' nearby, ready to assist if the need arose. Preliminary investigations indicated that a short circuit in the kitchen area of the ship was the cause of the fire. Following the incident, the 'Nardis' is likely to be towed back to the port of Astrakhan for necessary repairs.
