On October 25, 2019, at 5:15 AM, a distressing incident unfolded involving the tanker 'NCC Amal' as it navigated approximately 4.9 miles west of Pulau Cula, Indonesia, positioned at 01 02 57N, 103 38 00E. Four individuals aboard a small craft attempted to board the vessel from its starboard side. Fortunately, the crew promptly activated the alarm, leading to the swift retreat of the unauthorized boat. Following the incident, the tanker’s Master promptly notified Singaporean authorities of the attempted boarding.
