On the morning of March 26, 2023, the cable layer NDURANCE encountered an unexpected situation when it ran aground on the Oude Maas River near Dordrecht, Netherlands, just in front of Spijkenisse Haven, shortly after navigating past the Groene Kruisweg Bridge. Fortunately, the vessel was promptly assisted by a tug, facilitating its swift refloating. After successfully regaining its stability, NDURANCE resumed its journey and arrived at its final destination in Moerdijk several hours later. While no detailed reports on damages have been disclosed, initial assessments suggest that a steering failure may have contributed to this incident.

On January 15, 2023, a remarkable event unfolded at the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore as Royal Dutch Boskalis proudly introduced two state-of-the-art multifunctional vessels: the NDURANCE and the NDEAVOR. Measuring 99 meters in length and 30 meters in width, these ships have been expertly constructed by a collaboration between Samsung C&T Corporation and ZPMC - Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. Each vessel boasts unique equipment tailored for specific projects, highlighting their multifunctional capabilities. Notably, the NDURANCE is outfitted with an impressive large cable reel designed to accommodate up to 5,000 tons of cable. This vessel is set to embark on a significant mission to Bali shortly, where it will facilitate the installation of two power cables, each stretching 4,000 meters, connecting Java and Bali.
