On November 2, 2022, at 11:30 a.m., the vessel 'Protector St. John' informed the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Station in Jakhau about a critical medical situation involving a 29-year-old Filipino crew member who was experiencing severe vomiting of blood while navigating from Pipavav to Qatar. In prompt response, the Coast Guard dispatched the fast-assist boat 'C 409' from Jakhau, which successfully met the merchant ship at 1:00 p.m. The patient was swiftly medevaced and received initial medical attention on board the 'Protector St. John'. By 3:00 p.m., the vessel returned to Jakhau, from where the crew member was then transferred to a local Government Hospital in Aliya for further medical treatment. This rapid and efficient operation by the Coast Guard showcases their commitment to maritime safety and emergency response.
