Nestor Detained in New Holland Over Safety Violations
On July 11, 2025, the cargo ship 'Nestor' faced detention in New Holland due to notable safety concerns. A total of eight deficiencies were identified during inspections, with four categorized as severe enough to warrant immediate action. These critical issues included: 1) Life-Saving Appliances β Rescue boats not prepared for use, 2) Life-Saving Appliances β Inoperative embarkation arrangements for survival craft, 3) Labor conditions β Insufficient ventilation in working spaces, and 4) ISM β Non-compliance concerning the ISM certificate. Following repairs and rectifications, the vessel was released the following day, July 12, and subsequently set sail for Kingston-upon-Hull, where it successfully berthed on the same day.
