In the early hours of February 17, 2013, at approximately 1 a.m., the cargo ship 'Neuland' suffered a minor allision with a wooden pier in Brake Harbour. The vessel, which was on a voyage from Rostock and loaded with feed products, encountered difficulties due to strong tidal currents that hampered the effectiveness of its bow thruster during docking. As a result, the rear of the 'Neuland' collided with the pier, causing superficial damage above the waterline. Additionally, a boat crane at the site sustained damage, though the total cost of these repairs remains undetermined. Subsequently, the Bremerhaven shipping authority detained the ship until further assessments could be made. Following necessary repairs to its port side bulwark at MWB Bremerhaven, the 'Neuland' resumed its journey, departing for Rostock on February 18, 2013. On March 1, 2012, an incident occurred on the Breitling waterway when the cargo vessel 'Skåne' collided with the 'Arklow Spirit' while en route between Rostock Seaport and Warnemünde. The 'Skåne,' which had just departed with its destination set for Cork, faced significant damage along with the 'Arklow Spirit.' Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or spills stemming from the collision. After thorough investigations were conducted, the ferry managed to resume its journey to Trelleborg just 90 minutes later. Meanwhile, the 'Arklow Spirit' returned to Rostock for further assessment.
