On June 28, a significant incident unfolded in Thassos as the Master of the ferry 'Nikitis' reported a critical failure of its starboard main engine. The vessel was preparing to embark on its scheduled journey to Kavala, carrying 76 passengers and 13 vehicles. In response to this emergency, the 1st Port Department of Thassos, part of the Central Port Authority of Kavala, swiftly imposed a sailing ban on the 'Nikitis' until the necessary repairs were addressed. Furthermore, the ferry must present a maintenance certificate from its classification society before it can resume operations. In a display of customer care, the ship-owning company arranged alternative transportation for the affected passengers to ensure they reached their destination without significant delay.

On June 23, 2025, the Captain of the ferry 'Nkiitis' reported a significant engine malfunction shortly after docking at the port of Prinos, having journeyed from Kavala. During this incident, the vessel carried 75 passengers, all of whom were safely disembarked, alongside the unloading of 14 vehicles. In response to the situation, the 1st Port Department of Thassos, part of the Central Port Authority of Kavala, promptly took action by halting the ferry's next departure until a valid seaworthiness certificate is provided by the designated monitoring classification society. At the port, 46 passengers, along with 11 vehicles, awaited boarding. The ferry's operating company ensured the affected passengers were taken care of and assisted in reaching their final destinations.

On June 8, the Port Authority of Prinos Thassos received reports regarding a significant mechanical failure affecting both the port and starboard main engines of the ferry 'Nikitis'. This incident occurred while the vessel was en route from Kavala to Prinos, carrying 53 passengers. Fortunately, the 'Nikitis' was able to navigate to Prinos under its own power. Once docked, all passengers were safely disembarked without any reported injuries. In response to the engine troubles, the Port Authority has mandated a halt to the ferry's operations until the necessary repairs are completed. The vessel's classification society must also provide a maintenance certificate before it is permitted to resume service.
