Monte's Propeller Damage Fixed After Taking on 1500 Tons of Ballast Water
The vessel "Monte", on its route from Klaipeda to Lübeck, encountered a significant issue with its propeller. The ship’s captain identified the problem while at sea, but with no available dock space in Lübeck, the decision was made to take action upon arrival. On October 18, 2014, after berthing, the crew filled the ballast tanks with 1500 tons of water to facilitate access to the propulsion gear located above the waterline. Upon inspection, it was determined that the propeller had sustained corrosion damage. Repair efforts were carried out promptly, and by October 23, the work was sufficiently completed, allowing the "Monte" to set course for the Severnaya Verf Shipyard in St. Petersburg, where it docked on October 29.
