The estimated worth of this contract extension stands at $22.5 million, equating to approximately $150,000 per day. The Maersk Viking has been engaged in operations under a three-year contract focused on the Julia field in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico since its launch from the shipyard of Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) in 2014, a time when crude oil prices were soaring above $100 per barrel. Initially, the contract was valued at around $610 million, translating to a hefty day rate of just over $550,000.
