Gotlandsbolaget Unveils New Names for Former DFDS Ferries

Jan 10, 2025 09:44

Gotlandsbolaget, the new Swedish owner of the vessels previously known as 'Pearl Seaways' and 'Crown Seaways,' has officially announced their rebranding on the København - Fredrikshavn - Oslo route. The ferries will now be called 'Nordic Pearl' and 'Nordic Crown.' As of January 2, 2025, the 'Pearl Seaways' is undergoing extensive maintenance at the Landskrona facility. Both ships were officially handed over to Gotlandsbolaget on November 1, 2024, and are set to operate on the Oslo-Copenhagen route going forward. This transition follows the acquisition of the DFDS line, which was sold by the Danish shipping company for around 400 million DKK. In addition to the ships, the deal also included the transfer of more than 800 employees to Gotlandsbolaget. The announcement comes after Gotlandsbolaget confirmed their takeover plans back in June 2024, ensuring a smooth transition in service provision on the important maritime route.
