Working Conditions Aboard the Nordic-Nuluujaak

A fleet of vessels finds themselves entrapped by ice conditions along the Northern Sea Route, awaiting the crucial support of icebreakers to navigate through the frozen waters. Among those stranded is the 'Nordic Quinngua', which was making its way from Milne Inlet to Nakhodka, along with the 'Golden Pearl', traveling from Murmansk to Lanshan, and the 'UHL Fusion', heading from Esbjerg to Vladivostok. These ships received assistance from the nuclear icebreaker 'Taymyr', which successfully led them through the challenging conditions of the Laptev Sea. However, not all vessels have been so fortunate. The bulk carriers 'Nordic Nuluujaak', also en route from Milne Inlet to Nakhodka, and the 'Golden Suek', making its journey from Murmansk to China, remain stuck and are currently immobilized in the East Siberian Sea. Additional vessels facing similar fates include the 'Poolgracht', headed from Dongjing to Gydan, the 'UHL Faith', traveling to Hamburg from Taicang, and the 'UHL Flash', bound for Rotterdam from Taicang, which are immobilized in the Vil'kitskogo Strait and the Laptev Sea, respectively. In addition to these individual cases, around a dozen Russian cargo ships are also positioned along the Northern Sea Route. Many of them are awaiting icebreaker escort or attempting to find their way through the densely packed ice floes. The conditions in these northern waters highlight the ongoing challenges of maritime operations in icy environments.
