Navigational Incident in Brake Port Involves Multiple Vessels
On January 15, 2018, at 2:30 p.m., the cargo ship "Peikko" encountered a significant navigational mishap in Brake, located within the Wesermarsch municipality. During an attempt to shift berths following the completion of unloading operations, the 55-year-old captain miscalculated the effects of tidal currents and wind conditions. As a result, the "Peikko" collided with two moored vessels at the pier: the bulk carrier "Aracari Arrow" (IMO: 9008706) and the tugboat "Mistral" (IMO: 6923888). The collision inflicted extensive damage on the "Aracari Arrow," leading to its detention in the port for repairs. Meanwhile, the "Peikko" incurred a hull breach that required welding before departure. After completing necessary repairs, the "Peikko" was granted clearance to set sail towards Aarhus at 7:30 p.m. the same evening. In the aftermath, local authorities initiated an investigation into the captain’s actions. The bulk carrier "Aracari Arrow" finally departed from Brake en route to Rouen on January 16 at 2:15 p.m., with an estimated time of arrival in Rouen on January 18 at 5 p.m. Meanwhile, the "Peikko" was reported transiting the Kiel Canal later that day, aiming to reach Aarhus by noon on January 17. The tugboat "Mistral" departed the Brake pier at 4 p.m., subsequently anchoring at Blexen Roads on the Weser.
NORDICA HAV 8324684 Refloated and Towed for Unloading

After undergoing a thorough inspection by divers, the ship was towed to Nykøbing Mors, where it is set to unload its cargo. The cooperation between the tug and the marine salvage team ensured a smooth recovery for the vessel, which is registered under IMO number 8324684.
