Christmas Eve Medivac by RNLI Bembridge Lifeboat

Dec 25, 2019 20:38

On December 24, 2019, at 11:40 a.m., the RNLB 'Alfred Albert Williams' from the RNLI Bembridge station responded to a request from the Solent Coastguard for a medivac operation. The lifeboat was dispatched to assist a crew member of the 'Normand Pacific', a vessel engaged in the IFA2 cable project, located near Nab End in the mid-Solent, northeast of the station. Despite challenging conditions with a swell reaching 2 meters, the RNLI crew successfully facilitated the transfer of the casualty, who was experiencing stomach pains but was able to walk, from the starboard forward deck of the 'Normand Pacific'. Following the medivac, the lifeboat transported the individual to Portsmouth Camber, where an ambulance was ready to take him to the hospital for further care. The 'Alfred Albert Williams' concluded its operation and returned to Bembridge, being recovered by 1:30 p.m. For further details, you can see the official report along with photos at RNLI's website.

Normand Pacific Set to Conduct Critical Cable Surveys on Western HVDC Link Route

Mar 10, 2017 09:53

In early March 2017, the Normand Pacific, a specialized Multi-Purpose Offshore Vessel, will commence important survey operations along the Western HVDC Link route, as reported by AWJ Marine. These surveys will take place in key maritime areas including Liverpool Bay, the Irish Sea, the North Channel, and at the entrance to the Firth of Clyde. Throughout the operation, the Normand Pacific will keep an active watch on VHF Channel 16 to ensure seamless communication. It is important to note that the vessel will have limited maneuverability during these tasks, prompting other maritime traffic to exercise heightened caution and follow directives from navigation authorities diligently. To reinforce safety, guard vessels are stationed along the cable route, continuing their mission to safeguard local marine activities during the installation and burial of the cables. These vessels will remain on-site until the cable protection measures are fully implemented, guiding mariners around any exposed cable areas. The survey will employ a Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle (ROV) to perform both visual and instrumental assessments of the installed cable route, further ensuring the integrity of this crucial infrastructure.

Gibdock Welcomes Normand Pacific for Special Survey from Solstad Offshore

Gibdock, the renowned ship repair facility based in Gibraltar, has once again joined forces with Solstad Offshore, a leading Norwegian operator, to attend to the maintenance needs of its vessels. Their collaboration was recently reignited with the arrival of the Construction Support Vessel (CSV) Normand Pacific, a 5000dwt vessel, which is in Gibraltar for its inaugural special survey. Richard Beards, the managing director of Gibdock, expressed enthusiasm over this recurring partnership, stating, 'Solstad Offshore is a valued repeat customer that we hold in very high regard. We were thrilled to welcome them back once again.
