On March 8, 2023, Farstad Shipping ASA proudly announced the delivery of its latest light construction and IMR vessel, the FAR SUPERIOR (IMO: [Add IMO Number]), from the esteemed Vard Group AS. The construction of this state-of-the-art vessel took place at the Vard Vung Tau shipyard in Vietnam. The FAR SUPERIOR is set to embark on a long-term framework agreement with TechnipFMC Norge AS, spanning a firm commitment of 5 years and potential extensions for an additional 5 years, as previously reported in the press release dated December 12, 2014. This vessel is uniquely designed for TechnipFMC Norge, enabling it to undertake light construction tasks, inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) operations, as well as other subsea activities at impressive depths of up to 3,000 meters. The FAR SUPERIOR boasts an overall length of 98.1 meters, a beam of 21.5 meters, and a substantial deck area of 875 m². Among its notable features, the vessel is outfitted with an Active Heave Compensation (AHC) offshore crane, capable of lifting up to 150 tons, and is equipped with two Work Remote Operating Vehicles (ROVs) from Oceaneering. Accommodations for the crew can host up to 85 personnel, ensuring that the FAR SUPERIOR can operate efficiently on extended missions. To support the acquisition, a long-term financing agreement valued at NOK 300 million has been orchestrated by Danske Bank (acting as agent), in collaboration with DNB, GIEK, Sparebanken Møre, and Swedbank.
