In a significant development for the AQUIND Interconnector initiative, MMT has initiated an offshore geophysical survey aimed at assessing the proposed cable corridor that stretches from landfall sites near Portsmouth, England, to Dieppe, France. According to a recent media release from the company, the operation will be conducted using two specialized vessels: M/V Franklin, tasked with offshore surveying, and M/V Seabeam, which will handle nearshore operations. These vessels are outfitted with cutting-edge survey technology, including multibeam echo sounders, side-scan sonars, and sub-bottom profilers, ensuring precise data collection. This survey is a critical step for the Enemalta Corporation, which is overseeing a 100-kilometer project known as the HVAC Malta-Sicily Submarine Electrical Interconnector, boasting a nominal capacity of 200MW.
