Accident on 'Northern Venture' Leaves Two Crew Members Injured in Goderich Harbour
On October 7, 2025, at approximately 1 p.m., a significant workplace accident occurred aboard the 'Northern Venture' docked in Goderich Harbour, resulting in injuries to two crew members. The incident took place while the crew was engaged in maintenance tasks as the vessel was being prepped for an upcoming salt cargo loading. Tragically, both individuals were pinned beneath equipment during the process. One crew member sustained serious injuries and required airlift to a medical facility for treatment; fortunately, his injuries were deemed non-life-threatening. The second individual also suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was subsequently transported to the hospital for further care. In response to the accident, the Ministry of Labour and the Transportation Safety Board have initiated an investigation to determine the causes and improve safety protocols in maritime operations.
