A mobile crane, identified as Gottwald No. 93, unexpectedly collapsed, crashing onto the bulk carrier Maria V. Livanos, which was docked at the berth. Both the crane and the vessel sustained considerable damage due to the incident. Emergency services were deployed promptly, and a docker who suffered serious injuries was taken to a hospital for treatment.
