Lack of Documentation for Oil Residues Found on Ocean Innovation
On November 27, 2019, at 10 a.m., the police in Mukran conducted a MARPOL inspection on the bulk carrier 'Ocean Innovation' after its arrival from Gdynia on November 26 at 8 a.m. During the inspection, authorities discovered that 1.35 m³ of oil residues were not documented in the vessel's oil log or any associated records. Additionally, several entries within the oil journal did not meet the requirements set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and the existing tanks were improperly labeled. The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) has been notified of the violations. As a result, a total security fine of €1,017 was imposed, alongside custodial fees. Furthermore, two misdemeanors were documented. The bulk carrier remained docked at berth 5 on November 28.
