Danish Company Acquires Offshore Vessel 'Ocean Zephyr' in Emden
In a notable transaction, GRS brokered the sale of the offshore vessel 'Ocean Zephyr' equipped with an Ampelmann A-type offshore access system. This vessel has transitioned ownership from OWS Off-Shore Wind Solutions to A1 Offshore Solutions, a prominent Danish firm. The delivery of 'Ocean Zephyr' took place on March 24, 2017, at the port of Emden. Following the sale, the vessel will maintain its operations under its existing name, continuing its charter on a German offshore wind farm. While the vessel is contracted for a long-term charter during the summer months, it is set to be available for additional charters over the next five years. During the winter, spring, and autumn seasons, 'Ocean Zephyr' will be stationed in Emden, fully equipped to respond to both short and long-term walk-to-work requests from interested clients.
Dutch Lifeboat Rescues Stranded Yacht and MOB on Ems River
On April 25, 2014, during a routine training exercise, the Dutch lifeboat 'Jan en Titia Visser' was called into action to assist a yacht named 'Eiland' and a man overboard (MOB) situation involving the vessel 'Ocean Zephyr'. The incident occurred at buoy 60 on the Ems River, coordinates 53º 20'N 7º 05'E. The MOB had previously attempted to free the motor yacht from a stone dam, but the rescue wire snapped, causing it to entangle in the yacht's propeller. In response to this emergency, the 'Ocean Zephyr' sought help from the lifeboat. Exercising caution, the crew of 'Jan en Titia Visser' maneuvered carefully to the scene, where both vessels were precariously positioned on the dam. The lifeboat first managed to free the MOB, bringing him alongside the 'Ocean Zephyr'. Subsequently, with the site illuminated by the offshore vessel, the crew successfully salvaged the panicked yacht and towed it to safety. The 'Eiland' was escorted to a marina in Emden, where it was safely moored by 11 p.m. For further details, the Dutch rescue report, complete with photos, is available at http://www.knrm.nl/service/reddingrapporten/?contentID=6CADB1B5.
