On the evening of January 26, 2018, the oil rig support vessel 'Far Statesman' conducted a courageous rescue operation, saving three boaters who had become lost after attending a Raft Up Party at Rottnest Island. The incident unfolded at approximately 8 p.m., when the group was ejected from their 6.4-meter inflatable boat. Although the skipper noticed the accident shortly after it occurred, the trio had already drifted away, sparking a comprehensive search by water police and Fremantle Sea Rescue teams. Nearly three hours later, the 'Far Statesman' located the missing individuals, who were adrift nearly two kilometers from the original incident spot. The crew first heard their shouts about 200 meters away and quickly spotted them in the searchlights. The brave rescuers brought the trio aboard a nearby police rescue vessel, promptly transporting them to a local hospital. There, they were kept overnight for treatment related to exhaustion, marking a successful end to a perilous situation.
