This strategic acquisition marks a significant milestone as it effectively doubles the size of Castor Maritime's fleet. The vessel will henceforth be known as Magic Sun and has secured a charter with the reputable Oldendorff Carriers from Germany. Set to begin on September 7, the charter agreement spans a period of eight to twelve months, with a competitive daily rate of $12,000. This arrangement is projected to generate revenues of approximately $2.9 million based on the minimum charter duration, potentially reaching up to $4.4 million.

Diana Shipping, the renowned Greek dry bulk shipping company, is continuing its strategy of fleet optimization by offering its two oldest vessels, the 2001-built panamaxes Nirefs and Oceanis, for sale. This move comes on the heels of last month's successful divestiture of sister ships Danae and Dione. Brokers are currently promoting Nirefs and Oceanis with the aim of achieving the best possible sale price in alignment with prevailing market conditions. According to MSI, the current valuation for each of these vessels stands at approximately $7.4 million. As the company navigates these transactions, the focus remains on enhancing their fleet and positioning within the competitive shipping market.

In a significant move for its fleet, Diana Shipping Inc. has announced the signing of a time charter agreement for its Panamax bulk carrier, m/v Nirefs, with Hudson Shipping Lines Incorporated. The terms of the charter include a gross daily rate of $10,750, with a 3.75% commission payable to third parties. This contract is set for a minimum period of eleven months, extending up to a maximum of fourteen months, having officially commenced on August 11, 2018. Prior to this charter, the m/v Nirefs was under contract with Jaldhi Overseas Pte. Ltd. Singapore, for a daily rate of $9,400, which included a 5% commission for third-party services. This new agreement highlights Diana Shipping's strategic efforts to enhance its operations in the dry bulk sector.
