On March 16, 2016, the cargo vessel 'Marmolokai' experienced an engine malfunction around 3 p.m. while navigating the Åsværfjord shortly after departing from Mosjoen, heading towards Kristiansund. The ship drifted off the Åsvær lighthouse amid brisk southwest winds, prompting the crew to issue a distress call via VHF radio, seeking urgent assistance. A lifeboat was dispatched to render aid, and Seløy Undervannsservice was also poised to provide help. However, the crew promptly resolved the engine issue, restoring power within 15 minutes. Despite the quick fix, the 'Marmolokai' opted to return and anchor in the sheltered waters near Nesna. The vessel resumed its voyage early on the morning of March 17, setting sail for a destination beyond Kristiansund.
