In the early hours of September 5, 2020, at approximately 01:15 a.m., the oil tanker 'Eliana' found itself in a tense situation when a small boat carrying unidentified individuals approached while docked at Shorelink Jetty in Port Harcourt. The Nigerian naval security team stationed on the tanker swiftly illuminated the approaching vessel with their spotlight, yet the boat continued its course toward the tanker. In response, the naval security personnel issued three warning shots, prompting the suspicious boat to retreat. Following this incident, the crew of the 'Eliana' conducted a thorough search of the vessel and confirmed that there were no intruders on board. Port authorities were alerted to the situation, and it was reported that the crew members remained safe throughout the event.

In a troubling incident off the coast of Nigeria, two vessels fell victim to piracy on the morning of November 23, 2016. The first attack involved the cargo ship 'Eliana,' which was ambushed at coordinates 03°50'N 005°00'E. Shortly thereafter, the Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) 'Kendrick 2' was also attacked, located at 03°30'N 005°20'E. It is believed that both vessels were struck by the same pirate group operating in the region, approximately 60 to 70 miles from the Bayelsa coastline in the Gulf of Guinea. At the time of the incidents, the 'Eliana' was making its way from Port Harcourt to Lagos, while the 'Kendrick 2' was traveling from an oil field to Onne.
