On August 20th, a harrowing incident unfolded at Bab-el-Mandeb, the crucial junction at the entrance of the Red Sea, where the bulk carrier SAEI fell victim to a series of pirate assaults. Reports from MarineLink reveal that the vessel faced a highly organized attack from an armed group. The Iranian Navy responded heroically, coming to the aid of the SAEI after a relentless offensive. The initial confrontation began around 15:00 local time, when four skiffs carrying approximately 20 pirates launched their attack on the ship. This was followed by a more intense wave of aggression involving eight skiffs and around 40 pirates. The final attempt to overpower the bulk carrier saw two skiffs with 12 pirates each.
