On June 14, 2023, the German shipowner Braren marked a significant milestone by completing its latest newbuilding program with the delivery of the 'Simon Braren.' Operating under the charter name 'African River,' this vessel rounds out the company's trio of multi-purpose freighters. Prior to this, the fleet gained two other noteworthy additions: the 'Hermann Wulff,' known as 'African Wind,' and the 'Helene Braren,' dubbed 'African Forest.' All three ships, capable of carrying 28,450 tons, were constructed at the reputable Huanghai Shipbuilding Co. located in Shidao, China.
