A significant new trip charter has been secured for the transportation of 170,000 tons of ore from Western Australia to China. This lucrative charter, priced at $7.95 per ton on a free in and out (fio) basis, involves a scale load with a discharge capacity of 30,000 tons subject to a ship is not in command (shinc) agreement. A catastrophic event unfolded on April 2, 2011, when two dock workers were tragically poisoned while the cargo ship "Pacific Resource" (IMO 9565326) was engaged in unloading coal at the Enstedt plant in Apenrade. Initial reports indicate that both workers suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning, likely resulting in suffocation. The older worker was discovered deceased on the same day, while the second worker, found unconscious, was rushed to the hospital where he unfortunately passed away in the early hours of February 4. An autopsy for both individuals was conducted on February 5. Preliminary investigations suggest that carbon monoxide may have accumulated within the vessel's hold during the unloading process. Authorities remain in the dark regarding the exact circumstances of this grave incident. In light of these events, the Inspectorate has initiated an investigation and mandated heightened security measures aboard the "Pacific Resource," which has been retained in Apenrade for further inspection.
