On September 18, 2021, the bulk carrier Pacific South encountered significant engine trouble while navigating through the busy traffic separation scheme (TSS) approximately 19.46 nautical miles from Terschelling, positioned at 53°22'41"N and 004°40'41"E. With a crew of 26 on board, the vessel's distress prompted the Dutch Coastguard to reach out to relevant tug companies for assistance. Subsequently, the vessel anchored safely at coordinates 53°22'39"N and 004°40'20"E, still about 19.5 nautical miles from Terschelling. By September 28, the Pacific South had been successfully moved to its new position at 52°32.18'N and 004°13.96'E, where it was moored at IJmuiden Anchorage.
