On October 25, 2020, three separate incidents of armed robbery occurred within just two hours of each other, involving the vessels 'Seajourney', 'A Racer', and 'El Matador'. These ships reported encounters with unauthorized intruders who absconded shortly after their presence was detected. Fortunately, no crew members were harmed, and nothing was reported stolen from any of the vessels. In one notable incident, the crew of the 'A Racer' spotted five unauthorized individuals on board. After raising the alarm and conducting an onboard search, the perpetrators remained elusive, but the crew ensured their safety and reported no theft. In light of these alarming events, ReCAAP has strongly advised all maritime vessels in the region to heighten their vigilance and implement additional security measures. The agency has also called for increased patrols and enforcement actions by local authorities to bolster safety in their waters. Following the incidents, both the Singapore Police Coast Guard and Indonesian officials were alerted, prompting the issuance of safety navigational broadcasts to safeguard maritime operations in the area.
