Passengers Left Behind on Peter Pan Ferry After Arrival in Świnoujście
In a surprising turn of events on July 4, 2025, passengers aboard the ferry 'Peter Pan', which operates between Trelleborg and Świnoujście, found themselves stranded on the car deck. As the vessel approached the port at approximately 11 p.m. after a seven-hour journey, an announcement indicated the imminent arrival. Following this, passengers made their way to the car deck, only to discover that the area had been locked throughout the journey. To their dismay, once on car deck 1, they realized they had been left behind, as the ramp leading to the upper deck—and ultimately the exit—was closed. One hour into their confinement, anxiety began to rise among the trapped individuals. Some passengers took it upon themselves to ascend the stairs to search for assistance. However, their initial attempts to find crew members were unfruitful, leading to a growing sense of abandonment. It wasn't until one resourceful passenger encountered a receptionist that the gravity of the situation became apparent. Upon confirming they had been forgotten, the crew was alerted, and an officer eventually descended to the car deck. In a further escalation, concerned passengers reached out to the port authority in Świnoujście, prompting a call to law enforcement. In response to the situation, the ferry’s crew subsequently unloaded all vehicles from car deck 1. According to officials at the port office in Świnoujście, crew members were subjected to alcohol tests, all of which yielded negative results, ensuring that intoxication was not a factor in this oversight. The incident raises important questions about passenger safety and crew protocols, highlighting the need for improved communication and accountability during ferry operations.
