On September 14, 2015, at approximately 10:20 a.m., the bulk carrier 'Venus' was involved in a collision with the local fishing vessel 'Amros' approximately 60 miles northeast of Kuala Terengganu, situated in the South China Sea. At the time of the incident, there were around 30 crew members aboard 'Amros'. The fishing vessel was struck on its starboard side but managed to be safely towed to the Malaysian coast without further incident. Nearby fishing vessels played a crucial role in rescuing two fishermen from 'Amros'. Fortunately, the rescuers reported no casualties or missing persons from the incident. The master of 'Venus', which was transporting a cargo of sand from Cambodia to Singapore, promptly notified the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency about the mishap. The Malaysian Coast Guard directed the 'Venus' to maneuver towards Pulau Kapas for an investigation. After the inquiry was concluded, the bulk carrier resumed its journey to Singapore, ensuring minimal disruption to its voyage.
