Vessel 'Polar' Detained in Kocaeli Over Multiple Deficiencies
On July 8, 2025, the vessel 'Polar' was detained in Kocaeli due to an alarming count of 20 deficiencies, five of which were classified as serious enough to justify the detention. Among the critical issues reported were: Life-Saving Appliances, specifically lifeboats that were not ready for use; missing entries on the Safety Management Certificate; expired safety navigation reports; fire safety violations regarding fire doors and openings in fire-resisting divisions; and poorly maintained water and weathertight doors. Following the inspection, the 'Polar' was released on July 10 and subsequently departed the port on July 12, embarking on a journey to Dörtyol with an estimated time of arrival (ETA) set for July 16.
