In response, the 'Hammerodde' has been deployed as a substitute. Originally scheduled to depart for Ystad at 6:30 a.m., the 'Povl Anker' was forced to remain docked in Ronne due to technical difficulties affecting one of its main engines. However, there was hope that the 'Povl Anker' would be operational and able to resume service later in the evening, with an anticipated departure time of 7:30 p.m.

On May 1, 2011, a serious incident at Rønne harbour involving the ferry POVL ANKER (IMO 7633143) has raised alarming concerns over workplace safety. During a routine maneuver from the cruise pier to its designated berth, two port workers were tragically injured. One worker sustained a broken hand, while another suffered the loss of parts of at least three fingers when they became ensnared in a rope. The incident reportedly occurred as a result of inadequate rope handling procedures, which the Labour Inspectorate has now mandated the Bornholm Ferry Company to address immediately. Karsten Christensen from the Labour Inspection stated, "The procedures in place were insufficient on the day of the accident. There appears to have been a misunderstanding regarding the instructions for handling ropes that led to this unfortunate mishap, resulting in injuries that should have been preventable." The company has the right to appeal against this order, as they reassess their safety protocols to ensure a similar incident does not occur in the future.
