Pregol Hav Engine Failure Causes Shipping Delay in Kiel Canal
On February 19, 2019, at approximately 2:40 p.m., the cargo vessel 'Pregol Hav,' which was traveling from Riga, experienced a complete engine failure while navigating the Kiel Canal, near the Hochdonn ferry point. In response to the engine blackout, authorities temporarily suspended all shipping traffic in the canal to allow the crew to address the issue. After successfully repairing the compromised fuel line, the 'Pregol Hav' was able to continue its journey and passed through the Brunsbüttel locks en route to the Elbe at around 4:30 p.m.
