Incident Report: Jing Feng 7 Grounding in Hong Kong Waters
On January 3, 2017, at 7:30 a.m., the cargo vessel "Jing Feng 7" encountered a critical situation as it ran aground near Ma Wan, situated west of the Kwai Tsing container terminal complex in Hong Kong's bustling port. The ship, which was on its way to Shekou from Pohang, experienced an unexpected engine failure, causing it to drift onto the shores of Pak Wan, also known as Park Island. Following the incident, the Hong Kong Marine Department (Mardep) was promptly notified. Fortunately, efforts to rescue the vessel were successful, and it was towed off the shore before being anchored safely in the channel, mitigating any further risks.
