Early on May 3, 2014, at approximately 2:25 a.m., the cargo ship 'Qi Hang' was involved in a significant maritime incident, colliding with the ferry 'Marisa Nusantara' in the Sunda Strait, which lies between the islands of Java and Sumatra. The collision occurred on the starboard side of the ferry while it was en route from Merak to Bakauheni, situated merely 2.2 miles away from the Port of Bakauheni in South Lampung.
