Queen Ghaidaa Detained in Piraeus Over Serious Deficiencies
On May 13, 2026, the vessel 'Queen Ghaidaa' was detained at the port of Piraeus due to significant discrepancies found during an inspection. The ship was cited for a total of ten deficiencies, three of which were deemed critical enough to warrant the detention. The serious issues identified included: 1) The Manning Certificate not meeting the requirements set by the minimum safe manning document; 2) A failure to properly maintain ventilators, air pipes, and casings affecting water and weathertight integrity; and 3) Noncompliance regarding fire safety, specifically with fire doors and openings in fire-resisting divisions. After addressing these deficiencies, the 'Queen Ghaidaa' was released on May 19 and has since departed for Ravenna, where it is expected to arrive by May 24.
