On November 9 at 2150 LT, a maritime incident occurred involving the chemical tanker Torm Saone and the river-sea vessel Komsomolets Volgograda in the Anchorage 5 area near St. Petersburg. Both vessels had pilots on board at the time of the collision. The Russian tanker, Torm Saone, was in the process of heaving anchor while en route to the Lesnoy Mol (Timber Pier) area, whereas the Danish tanker was making its way to Anchorage 5 for a floating storage vessel. The aft section of Torm Saone made contact with the starboard side of Komsomolets Volgograda in the central area of the vessel.
