In a twist of events, the ferry 'Ramtind', which was temporarily stepping in for the 'Leka' during its scheduled overhaul on the Leka Fjord, encountered unforeseen technical issues shortly after its inaugural trips. A failure in the generator of a side thruster prompted the ferry to be relocated to Sandnessjoen for necessary repairs on February 13, 2014. Initially believed to be a minor issue, the situation escalated, leading to the deployment of the 'Torget' as a temporary substitute. However, upon closer inspection, it became clear that the damages to the 'Ramtind' were more severe than anticipated, necessitating the call for a new replacement ferry. The 'Kjerringoy' has been identified and is slated to commence operations as a reserve ferry starting February 15, ensuring continued service on the Leka Fjord.

The replacement ferry 'Ramtind', originally brought in to serve the Lekafjord during the scheduled three-week yard stay of the regular ferry 'Leka' in October 2011, has faced multiple engine issues. Despite the dedication of workers who toiled overnight to repair the bow thruster, sourcing parts for the 'Ramtind' has proven challenging. The ferry company has suggested that the 'Ytterøy' could be called into service as an alternative ferry; however, arrangements for this transition will require some additional time. In the meantime, to ensure continued transport across the fjord, the 'Ørtind,' a speedboat capable of carrying six vehicles, has been temporarily borrowed from Bindal.
