Tugboat Experience Mechanical Failure During Blue Star Salvage Operation
On November 28, 2019, at approximately 5:00 a.m., the tugboat 'Vehintiocho', which had been engaged by SMIT Salvage for the critical refloating of the grounded tanker 'Blue Star' near El Ferrol, experienced a mechanical failure. The vessel was subsequently assisted by the Salvamento Marítimo tugboat 'María Pita', which helped facilitate the tug's return to the outer port of Ferrol in Caneliñas. Notably, 'Vehintiocho' had only been on-site for less than a day after its arrival from the Cantabrian capital on November 27.
