Recent reports indicate a resurgence of COVID-19 cases in the Sonda de Campeche, with two crew members aboard the Pemex Reforma vessel exhibiting symptoms of the virus. One of the affected individuals, a senior manager, has been hospitalized in serious condition after having contact with numerous colleagues from the nearly 600-strong workforce aboard the ship. In response to this outbreak, Pemex promptly initiated a series of preventive strategies across its La Sonda platforms to mitigate further spread of the virus. The company has implemented a robust health and safety protocol aimed at minimizing COVID-19 cases within its oil facilities. Key measures include the installation of thermal imaging cameras to monitor the temperatures of employees and routine sanitization of workspaces and transportation methods to lower infection risks. To ensure operational continuity, Pemex has identified essential personnel and adopted a remote work structure for specific jobs. On April 18, an additional 20 workers from the platform were evacuated. This group consisted of 17 individuals from Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) and three from various external companies, all of whom were connected to operations on the Ku Alfa, Ku Sierra, Zaap Charly, and Reforma Pemex platforms, as well as aboard the Blue Pioneer. Of these evacuations, six workers from Ku Alfa and three from Ku Sierra were reported to have arrived in the afternoon, with the remaining eight personnel transferred via three flights from the Pool Alfa platform by approximately 6:30 p.m. The situation continues to be monitored closely as Pemex prioritizes the health and safety of its workforce.
