On October 29, 2017, at 9:35 PM, the ferry 'Rio Marina Bella' experienced a serious allision with a pier while attempting to dock at Portoferraio on Elba Island. Having departed Piombino at 8:30 PM, the vessel was carrying approximately 150 passengers and 50 vehicles at the time of the incident.
