Riva Wind Departs Odessa with 50,000 Tons of Grain Bound for Istanbul

Aug 09, 2022 11:24

On August 7, 2023, the bulk carrier 'Riva Wind' set sail from the Port of Odessa, carrying a significant cargo of 50,000 tons of grain, destined for Istanbul. The vessel dropped anchor for inspections in Istanbul on August 9. This grain shipment is the result of a collaborative effort between Harvest Commodities SA and Indonesia’s Arsari Group, which operates under the name PT Comexindo International. The successful transit of the 'Riva Wind' was facilitated by agreements involving the governments of the United States, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, and Indonesia, alongside the support of the United Nations. It’s noteworthy that Harvest Commodities SA is also responsible for another vessel, the 'Arizona,' which recently departed from Chornomorsk with a cargo of 55,000 tons of grain. Moreover, the crews and captains of both vessels have endured long waits since the onset of the conflict in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. In a related development, two additional ships owned by Harvest Commodities at Novorossiysk are currently undergoing loading: the bulk carrier 'Shark' with 25,000 tons and the 'Bronco' with 10,000 tons of grain. These ongoing shipments highlight the resilience and determination of the shipping industry amidst challenging geopolitical tensions.
