Rix Alliance Grounds at Orehoved: Key Details and Recovery Efforts
On the evening of March 21, 2020, at precisely 10:21 PM, the cargo vessel 'Rix Alliance', traveling from Grenaa to Soelvesborg, encountered unfortunate circumstances as it ran aground at the entrance of Orehoved. Thankfully, subsequent inspections revealed no indications of oil leakage or pollution in the surrounding waters. In response to the incident, the Danish Maritime Authority imposed a sailing ban on the vessel. The situation was closely monitored by the Danish anti-pollution vessel 'Marie Miljø', which facilitated the safe retrieval of the 'Rix Alliance' back to deeper waters. Following its inspection and repairs, the ship was safely docked at the Orehoved quay for further investigations. After the conclusion of these evaluations, the 'Rix Alliance' was permitted to continue its journey and successfully anchored on March 24 at 11:40 AM at position 55° 58.37' N, 014° 36.88' E on Soelvesborg roads.
Cargo Vessel 'Rix Alliance' Grounds Near Wolgast Amid Navigational Challenges
On the afternoon of September 2, 2023, the cargo vessel 'Rix Alliance' encountered difficulties while navigating towards the port of Wolgast. The incident occurred as the ship attempted to maneuver past 'Samia B', which had become immobilized after running aground on the Knaak Back Trench while making its way into the Peene River from Varberg the previous day, September 1. The 'Rix Alliance', which departed from Wolgast at 1 p.m. and was en route to Rostock, managed to refloat shortly after the grounding. However, the 'Samia B' required assistance from the lifeboat 'Eugen' to be refloated during the night and successfully docked in Wolgast at 6:15 a.m. on September 3. Subsequently, the 'Rix Alliance' reached its destination at the port of Peenemünde around 4 p.m. Both incidents are believed to have resulted from navigational errors in the narrow waterways to the northwest of Usedom Island.
Former Vessel Rix Alliance Transferred to New Ownership
The vessel, previously unnamed, has recently been sold to an undisclosed buyer and has undergone a renaming process in Elsfleth. It will now sail under the Latvian flag as 'Rix Alliance.'
