In the early hours of November 10, 2018, the cargo vessel 'Rix Crystal' found itself aground at Sprogø at precisely 4:32 a.m. The Danish Defense Operations Center swiftly responded by dispatching the anti-pollution ship 'Mette Miljø' to the scene. The incident unfolded as 'Rix Crystal' was returning from Aarhus, in the process of unloading rocks designed for coastal protection efforts in a confined bay situated between the highway ramp and the railway station tunnel dam. Evidently, the ship navigated too close to the shore, encountering shallower waters during its operation. At that time, a fresh southeasterly breeze was reported around Sprogø, contributing to the challenging conditions. Fortunately, there was no indication of oil leakage from the vessel, leading to a successful refloating maneuver, after which 'Rix Crystal' secured a more stable position adjacent to Sprogø.
