Norwegian maritime magnate Axel C. Eitzen is making waves once again in the bulk shipping sector, marking his return with a significant purchase after several years of absence. According to a report by Norwegian daily Dagen Næringsliv, Eitzen has acquired a supramax bulk carrier, continuing his legacy in dry cargo operations. Eitzen, who once managed a fleet of over a hundred bulk vessels through a publicly listed company, expressed his ambition to expand in the bulk shipping market again, having stepped back when Eitzen Bulk’s fleet was sold off several years ago. The vessel, named Ultra Tradition, has a storied history with Eitzen, as it was previously operated under his former company. This seven-year-old vessel, constructed in Japan, was sold by Japan's Shoei Kisen Kaisha, with the transaction estimated to be around $12 million. Eitzen's strategic move signals a resurgence of his investment in maritime logistics, aiming to harness the potential of the bulk shipping industry once more.
