This marks the fourth of six available one-month extension options exercised by Equinor, underscoring the vessel's importance in ongoing operations. The Safe Boreas continues to play a crucial role in supporting Equinor's projects in the North Sea.

On September 18, 2017, a crew member suffered an injury aboard the accommodation platform 'Safe Boreas', located in the Mariner field, approximately 93 miles east of Shetland. The incident occurred at around 5 p.m., prompting a swift response from the Coastguard, which deployed a helicopter to facilitate his evacuation. The injured man was transported to the Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick for medical attention and has since been released. In the aftermath, Statoil has initiated an investigation to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify any necessary corrective measures.

Prosafe, a leading operator of offshore accommodation platforms, has recently confirmed that Repsol Sinopec Resources UK has opted to extend the charter for its vessel, the Safe Boreas, for an additional 21 days. This agreement prolongs the operational presence of the Safe Boreas at the Montrose A site located in the UK sector of the North Sea until January 27, 2017. Prosafe will continue to implement a reduced day rate for the extension, in alignment with prevailing market conditions.
